F#%!ing Studs!

After two days of drilling, swearing, despairing, tapping and finally relief the exhaust is fitted. One of the previous 15 owners ( and thats just the UK ones!) had managed to snap an exhaust stud in the head, and unsuccessfully drill it out. And not even drill it out straight. So day one was one of blunted drills ( old studs seem bloody hard!), off center holes, much fretting of having to drop the engine to get it milled out, and general despair. Day two was a much brighter one, as although it was pissing down outside the stud was finally removed. After use of a cobalt drill to not only remove the stud, but to remove the remains of the tripped thread, the hole was heli-coiled, and finally the stainless exhaust system fitted after removing a second set of gaskets fossilized in gum gum!. I must admit I personally didn't have have the patience and skills for this, so it was neatly engineered by my dad, and done spot on thanks to his years of experience fettling with bikes. Oh and the rad is now painted and fitted. Right I'm off to the pub, but heres pics of progress for now.... p.s dug the triumph out today and all, so more pics to follow when I've got time!
